The Hop Exchange

The Hop Exchange in Southwark, built in 1866-67, served as a central marketplace for hop trading and later became office space. While primarily used in brewing, hops also have medicinal properties, historically aiding sleep, digestion, and anxiety. Though not directly linked to medicine, the area's rich medical history includes institutions like the Surrey Dispensary (1777) and Dulwich Community Hospital (1887).
