Through Woods, Words & Worlds: A Midsummer Walk Through Southwark
Created in collaboration with Unicorn Theatre for their new production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, this self-guided walk brings together Southwark's places, stories, and riverside spaces to explore a play that moves from order into chaos and back again.
Shakespeare's Southwark was London's entertainment district: playhouses, palaces, ships, and markets crowded along the river. A place of rules and rebellion, much like the world of the play.
Before the show: Wind through Southwark's landmarks, pausing to reflect, play, and eat along the way, letting the city set the scene before the story continues on stage.
After the show: Follow the route in reverse for a calmer, more reflective experience, mirroring the play's return from confusion to clarity.
Each stop includes a short piece of history and an activity to try. Take your time, skip stops if you wish, and notice how the city feels different once you start paying attention.
Suitable for ages 7 and above.
